What Do You Know About the Process of Transplanting Hair?

How Does Hair Transplant Work?

The process of getting a hair transplant in the UK involves a specific procedure: MicroFUE.  MicroFUE is a form of Follicular Unit Extraction, or FUE, that is designed to leave minimal scarring. The procedure uses tools that are less than a millimetre in length to extract not only the hair follicle but the sebaceous gland and the vital elements of the hair follicle as well. This helps to ensure that when the hair follicle is moved to its new location, it will be able to produce healthy hair. Once the hair follicle has been extracted from the donor area, which is typically from behind your ears and the back of your neck, but may be taken from your body hair in some cases as well, it will be transported into the targeted area. What Happens After the Procedure?

Unlike traditional transplants, when hair follicles are transplanted, they take several days to build a capillary network around the graft site. This means that they have to passively absorb oxygen as it diffuses through the tissue. The number-one cause of a poor hair follicle survival rate is caused by a lack of sufficient oxygen as absorbing oxygen through diffusion is not nearly as efficient as using adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. ATP is a molecule that our bodies naturally produce. It is needed for energy transfer between cells, manages cell metabolism, and is arguably one of the most important molecules in the body.

The ATP will increase the amount and quality of the oxygen that reaches the hair follicle as it builds capillary connections. The Hypothermosol FRS is designed to be a hypothermic preservation medium that will preserve and extend the life of the cells it is applied to. It can also extend the life of cells, tissues, and organs that are outside the body.
